6. Let’s learn about welding!~Bolt welding section~

Last time, Kyappa-kun learned about the components used in nut welding.
This time, let’s learn about the components used in bolt welding.

[Lower Components for Bolt Welding]
In bolt welding, there are many specialized lower components.

The diagram above shows an integrated-type bolt welding electrode.

Just like the cap tip and shank combination learned in general welding, this product is used by directly inserting it into a straight holder.

Inside, a KCF sleeve (a metal component with an insulating coating on the surface) is press-fitted.

This prevents the threaded part of the bolt from touching and sticking to the electrode, as it extends into the lower electrode during welding.

Next is the separated-type bolt welding electrode. Like the integrated type, a KCF sleeve is press-fitted inside.

Since this type is used in combination with a separate lower electrode holder, only the upper part needs to be replaced.

However, unlike cap tips, which can be resharpened (removing the worn-out part like sharpening a pencil), this component cannot be reshaped because the KCF sleeve’s coating would be removed.

Both types require replacement once the sleeve’s coating wears off, leading to frequent exchanges.

To solve this issue, the lower electrode Siper was developed.

This component uses ceramics for its internal insulating part (as ceramics themselves are insulating materials). This provides high insulation and excellent wear resistance (making it less prone to abrasion).

As long as the insulating part does not crack, it can be used semi-permanently. However, since unnoticed cracks could lead to malfunctions, proper maintenance is necessary.

[A 3mm Thick Projection Welding Tip!?]
As one of our original products, we offer the UFO, a stepped washer designed for nut and bolt welding.

Only the 3mm welding point needs to be replaced, which reduces waste, making it environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

Since only the heat-affected, softened part is replaced, it maintains durability better than regrinding.
